Don't make the mistake that MythWeb is actually creating these asx 
streams. The asx file is just ASCII text. It's a pointer, not unlike a 
playlist, that points your player at the actual media. The media is 
whatever is recorded from your tuner by MythTV. You can't change the 
codec without developing a complex mechanism in the background to 
perform real time transcoding.
