Sounds like a configuration issue... try going through the playback
settings:
Virt/horiz scaling = 0
Scan displacement x&y = 0
video aspect override and zoom = off
Playback profile = VDPAU High Quality
And in the Appearance settings (page 2)
Separate video modes for GUI and TV Playback = unchecked
