You don't need anything as big as 250Gb for your system disk. I would consider
running that on your 8Gb SSD - assuming this box is going to be used mainly for
myth and you don't need to install lots of other applications.
Alternatively, put the database on the SSD. This is the file that takes the most
hammering so the higher access speeds will be of benefit. There are posts here
about using SSDs for mysql, so it might be worth searching for those in case
there's something that might bite you.
- Having just bought three SSD drives to use as system disks myself, although
not for the myth backend: firewall, dhcp/log server and mythfrontend. Nice and
quiet now, not to mention power savings!
