... none of which permit you to record the programming with MythTV... so
you were right initially: "you have no other options".

This is all about, let us not forget, finding ways to end-run Sony v 
Universal: making it impossible for end users to record and control the
recordings of programs which that SCOTUS decision made it *legal* for us
to record.
