Okay Jordan,

Just as a memory refresher, I setup a virtual machine, compiled .25 
fixes and hooked up the HVR-850.  I copied the dvb-fe-xc5000-1.6.114.fw 
into the /lib/firmware.

You should be selecting, for your card setup, Analog V4L Capture card.

This will show there is nothing detected in the Video device field, but 
if you add /dev/video0 manually, the card will be detected.  Let me know 
if that gets you further.
