[mythtv-users] hvr-2250 closed captions not working

I recently installed a hvr-2250 into a Gentoo 0.25/fixes myth box and am
wondering if closed captions are supported.  Myth records fine and
sometimes indicates that there are "CC" in the recording, but they never
appear in the popup menu to select.  Are they supported for this card or
could someone give me some tips to check for issues?  I am not seeing any
errors in any of the logs.
