Hmm, ok.  I thought the duration would maybe be stored in the database like the filesize.

Would it not make sense to be able to run something to update the database with the actual contents of the recording (like 'mythcommflag --rebuild' does with the seektable)?  That's not meant to be taken as 'implement it', more 'surely I'm not the only one who wants the metadata to reflect reality'?

A tool to rebuild the metadata would potentially help anyone who has incorrect data in the program listings (don't know if many people have that problem).
