Been meaning to put this search engine bait up, this seems good place.
My Intel 3.16G C2D backend was slow for some time, eventually I looked
in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and found:
[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
Backtrace:
bla bla...
I was not using the frontend on this box, so hadn't bothered to update
the nvidia driver that was 195.36.24, I upgraded to 295.20, problem gone
and pc / web speed back where expected.
Lessons:
Check the logs.
Keep up to date.
