[mythtv-users] Compiling 0.25/trunk on Windows

I spent the weekend trying to compile trunk on windows using the build
script that is at http://github.com/MythTV/packaging/commit/42755b3.
This is referenced on the 0.25 Release page as the "new, robust build
script". I ran into many issues running the script and documented
them and the fixes as I figured them out. I finally got an
installation build and installed it, however when running
mythfrontend.exe I receive the error message "The application was
unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)."

At this point I discovered that Lawrence Rust, who wrote the script
that the "official" one is based on had an updated script at
http://www.softsystem.co.uk/download/mythtv/mythbuild.sh that already
incorporates all of the fixes that I had discovered. I ran his script
as well, which encountered no errors other than memory issues on
compiling qt, which appear to be a fairly normal issue and is simply
resolved by running the script again until it finishes. However, in
the end I had the same error message when I installed and ran
mythfrontend.exe. I ran the script on a Windows 7 machine.

If anyone knows how to fix this issue, I would love to hear it. I
would highly recommend using Lawrence's version of the build script as
it appears to be kept much more up to date. Also, if anyone has a
binary of the frontend running 0.25-beta or later and could make it
available for download, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Bob Cottingham
