that's exactly what I do.

the BD drive is allocated to the VM (which runs on the frontend)
I insert the disk in the forntend, AnyDVD automatically reads it.

Then I select my custom play BluRay entry that mounts a directory from
the Windows PC and plays it with mythavtest

It couldn't be easier...

There is one downside I admit... you still have to get up to put the
disk in the drive's tray...
