I have a basic .25 backend running in a VM now under ESXi4 (vsphere). I also have the USB HDPVR connected and simply allocating that USB device to the VM.

However, from what I've read I should passthrough the entire USB controller to this client since the HDPVR will create too much load on the host otherwise.

Can someone help me figure out which device to passthrough to the client? I pasted an lsusb and lspci output below if that helps. Perhaps it's a procedure I need ?

Also, does the lspci output below mean I have only 2 USB2 controllers, and 7 USB1 controllers?

I have done this exact setup. No problems at all.
It simply showed up as a hauppauge device in the ESXi pass through gui.

---------------------

The hauppage HDPVR should NOT show up for passthrough since it is a USB. Only the USB controllers should show up.

Either you don't have an HDPVR (USB connected), or you mean allocating a USB device to a guest. Real passthrough doesn't show USB devices...
