I have taken this to the mythtvnz list - I tried the tv_grab_nz_py idea 
but I seem to be missing something :)

I can update/relay the answer.

mhegepgsnoop "won't" work since there is no dvbhdhomerun drivers for 
Ubuntu 12.04 (yet - I dare say :) )
