[mythtv-users] Audio missing

As I said in a previous post, I have switched from debian stable to 
unbuntu 12.04

I almost have the mythtv-backend working - except for two things.  The 
other I will put in another post, but the primary problem is that my 
recordings don't have sound.

To check, after I recorded a program I copied the .mpg file on my 
desktop where I know sound works and try to play it directly with a 
media player there. and the video is there but the sound isn't

Any ideas where to look for the problem.  The front end dvb devices all 
have permissions root.video and the mythtv user belongs to both the 
video and audio groups.
