[mythtv-users] HDHomerun signal problem. Will HDHomerun Prime help?

That's possible, but I don't think it's likely.  I think it's far more
likely that the tech they sent out to his house doesn't have a clue
what he's talking about and just tells everyone they need to rent a
cable box.

What's being described here sounds more like a weak signal.  When you
do a channel scan, what are the reported signal strengths?  How many
ways is your cable split before it goes into your HDHR?  Can you tune
that channel if you remove all the splitters and temporarily feed your
entire cable signal into the HDHR?  If so, it's not an encoding issue.

That said, I have both an HDHR3 and and HDHR Prime and the Prime seems
to be able to handle a slightly weak signal better than my HDHR3.
Your mileage may vary.
