Sounds correct. You need to tell PMS the limitations of your device as
its not a PS3...
Try http://lmgtfy.com?q=site:ps3mediaserver.org%20android there are
configurations and other quirks over at PMS' site.

Additionally there is some stuff in the works. So it might be possible
to get your recordings to your phone without an additional media server
or upfront transcoding later this year. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
