I have a motherboard with a mix of USB2 and USB3 on the back panel, and it's not 
obvious visually which is which. Whatever, the BIOS on the m/b has an option 
where you can choose which mode the USB3 ports operate in. Allegedly this is 
either USB2+USB3 or USB1+USB2. It's possible that in USB2+USB3 mode it presents 
differently to the driver. Try checking your BIOS options, maybe you can find a 
legacy mode worth using.
