Yes.
refer to http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:HDAudioPassthrough

you do not need a kernel upgrade , just an alsa upgrade (1.0.24 for HD
audio passthrough)

For being able to get myth to properly read the capabilities of your
device, you need ALSA 1.0.25 (Warning , get it from git, do not use
the 1.0.25 archive on alsa web site; it's broken for nvidia audio)

It would be of some help if you actually upgraded now to Myth 0.25 and
provide some testing feedback
