I used to work in CATV -- and no. we got no formal training for climbing poles.

granted, they guys used to call me monkey boy -- as I needed no training.
But typically, in that construction environment, the "training" you got was on the job when someone handed you a pair of hooks and said, "your turn today, junior".

We definitely had some people in our workforce that were not meant for climbing much of anything let along wood with hooks.

But OSHA approved training? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... yea no.

I still have my climbing boots -- those things are awesome!
