I already have daily backups on a cron job.  I'd first check to see if
anything has been recorded since the last backup, and perhaps do
another, just to get the very latest status.  At that point I'd also do
a binary backup.

Obviously this is to be done during a gap when nothing is due to be
recorded.

Thank you for the advice, I'll get to this in the next few days.
