DTCP-IP is, as you state, a protected content path. While under the DLNA
umbrella, it has all the same issues for open source projects as other
protected content paths (Certification, licenses) that will prevent its use
with MythTV, and not only that, the entire DLNA protocol spec is (mostly)
behind various paywalls, which is why MythTV's implementation is, shall
we say, incomplete.

The real target here is (future) TVs that have DTCP-IP support, and media
players with full content protection implementation (PS3, perhaps others
exist).
