I see something same/similar (3-4 sec) with one HD channel (dvb-t) &
that started about the time that TV channel added/changed their
dvb_subtitles.

The latest git ffmpeg reports an unsupported decoder for one of the
offending recordings' streams.

Have been meaning to try stripping all dvb_subs from the original
recording to try debug..
I just about have a user job that has this functionality.
