What I think you are bing told is that you are better to install 12.04
from scratch than to upgrade it. I agree.
In rough terms:
Back up your database, and any specialised settings or files you want to keep.
Optionally disconnect your media drives to eliminate risk of
overwriting. If you are unlucky enough to have media files on the same
drive as / then put them somewhere else as a backup, eg an external
drive or drives.
Install 12.04
Use mythbuntu control centre to install mythbuntu repos and update to
latest 0.25-fixes
restore your disconnected drives and backed up media.
enjoy.
