You /are/ recording them--Live TV is recorded, too.  If you do this 
often, why not set up a rule to record TCM movies every night, then you 
can watch them even if you get to bed late.

Whether you watch it while it's recording or not is irrelevant, but 
there's really no reason not to record it.  The point is make your DVR 
work for you instead of making yourself to watch your TV.

Besides, when Live TV fails a bunch of times and breaks up the recording 
into several pieces, and your fellow viewers start to curse MythTV, 
doesn't it make you think, "Hmmm, now if the backend knew to keep 
recording this..."?
