[mythtv-users] recent update has broken scaling

Previously both HD and SD images were being properly scaled to maximum possible size  on my 16x10 display at the correct aspect
ratio.
It is summer so there is not much to watch, and I have not been using MythTV much.
This means I don't know which update broke the scaling.

What is happening now is that SD is being scaled to 16x10 (filling the screen & stretching the picture).
HD is being squished to 2x1 with black bars on top & bottom.

I have messed with all of the scaling options I can find and have not been able to fix this.

Suggestions would be appreciated.
