[mythtv-users] negative recording offset by tuner?

I have a tuner which requires an IR blaster channel changer.  When the
IR blaster changes the channel a popup from the STB is overlayed on the
screen showing the channel being input.  This popup lasts about 5
seconds which I don't want showing over the actual program starting.

What I'd like to do is set a permanent -5 start start offset to programs
recorded on this tuner (which means that programs directly prior will be
ended 5s early but that's usually just promos anyway) to allow the popup
to disappear before the actual show starts on the recording.

To be clear, I don't mind (in fact I rather like -- for debugging) that
the recording starts and records during the channel change, I just want
this all to start 5 seconds before the show is scheduled to start --
always, on this one tuner only though.

Can be done?
