I'm guessing "Exit and shutdown" works fine on MiniMyth (or at least on 
Mike's MiniMyth) because the distro (or Mike) configured mythfrontend to 
use a shutdown script--so it never does the "well, since the user didn't 
tell us how to properly shut down the system, let's use dbus to tell 
something to start killing all the processes and rip the rug out from 
under ourselves".

I.e. if you use any "shutdown" feature in MythTV, you really should 
configure shutdown in MythTV.
