[mythtv-users] how to stop endless mythfrontend restart loop

Dear mythtv gods,

I have a problem with a .25 frontend system running on mythbuntu 11.10
using the mythbuntu ppa repos. Occasionally, after a reboot, mythtv is
convinced that my machine is set to another time zone than my backend.
Typically, after jumping through all the places where I can set the time
zone, and finding it set the same as my backend, and a few reboots, the
system begins to work again.

This time, I cannot seem to end the frontend process. I switch to tty6 to
attempt to kill the frontend process, but unfortunately, the other process
that automatically restarts the frontend works, and it restarts the
frontend and I'm stuck. I would like to know if there is a method for
stopping the frontend when the frontends exit command cannot be used.
Alternatively, there must be some sort of daemon or something checking to
see if the frontend is still running, and if I could stop that process
prior to stopping the frontend, I'd also be able to progress. Attempts to
google for a solution showed me only old posts that seemed to tell how to
setup this scheme prior to it being implemented in the standard release.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh
