What happens when you have multiple programs that you wish to control
with the remote? mythbuntu-lirc-generator generates lircrc for mythtv,
mplayer, totem and others. In particular I use both mythtv and XBMC
interchangeably and with non lirc methods I get keys that don't work
in one or other program, or have the wrong mapping.

if not using lirc, is the best option to configure each program to use
consistent key mapping, rather than the lirc approach of specifying a
different mapping for each program?
