Correction (on the first command):

   nvidia-xconfig --custom-edid=Monitor0:/path/to/saved/edid_file
   nvidia-xconfig --connected-monitor=Monitor0
   ## "Monitor0" must mach monitor "Identifier" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
