A bit of an update to this old post. Can't seem to win. I upgraded
from the default kernel
(2.6.32-71) to the latest release (2.6.32-71.29.1) and it is a mixed
bag. The PVR-150s have been stable for about a week now, no problems.
However, I've had to disable a daily rsync process that synchronizes my
digital photographs and home video recordings between two computers (not
only RAID 1 on my main server, but a separate copy on another server)
because the rsync process is somehow causing a kernel panic in the ext4
drivers on that newest kernel. This didn't happen on the original kernel.

Robin, if you don't need the rsync, the update should take care of the
PVR-150s recording lockups (at least it appears to be a good fix so far.)

I haven't had time to configure kdump yet, but I need to get good dump
logs and report this so that it gets fixed... Then I'll almost be back
to where I was as far as stability goes on CentOS 5.

The other area is that LIRC sure is finicky now, I use an IRA-3 to
control two dish boxes, and no amount of tweaking has gotten stable
channel changing... But that's a topic for a different post.

Anthony
