Are you saying it would be better if the recordings were each on a different
drive or the recordings together were on a different drive from the NAS ?

Is it better to have drives on their own controller or is it fine to have
them share one controller and use different channels ?

I'll be running 2 HD PVRs for recording and streaming to 3 to 5 FEs at one
time.

NAS will have several services.  One being streaming music to 12 USB sound
card channels and maybe a couple portable devices.   Another being providing
images/saving images for DigiKam.   Another being doing a data backup for a
laptop.

I can set the server up with multiple drive controller cards and multiple
Ethernet cards connected to multiple switches.  One being Gigabit
exclusively for BE/FEs.   The other switch being 10/100 for other traffic.

This is going to be interesting.
