There are multiple types of 950Q with the same name and different
chipsets. What revision is it? It will probably say on the sticky
label on the underside of the usb device..

Get the card working first, then try it with MythTV. When the computer
boots or the card is inserted, dmesg does dmesg say? It's likely you're
either missing firmware or something else went wrong (new card with no
    driver support).

Do you have a /dev/dvb/xxxx tree, and if so what do you have under
    adapter0?

Assuming you have all this, it will appear as a dvb device in mythtv
setup. You can follow instructions for any ATSC/QAM card.

Following Ronald Frazier's advice I get the stick assigned to /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0. This informs me that the "Frontend ID" is "Auvitek AU8522 QAM/Subtype: ATSC" which is, looking at the wiki for this card, apparently the chip used in the stick.

According to the wiki the firmware for this device has been in Ubuntu since 9.10. Since I am running 11.4 I assume that the firmware is already installed.

dmesg shows me:

[ 17.640182] au0828: i2c bus registered

This seems to confirm that the firmware is present and has been loaded into the stick.

The stick works fine on Windows with WinTV and picks up several stations even using the toy antenna that comes in the package. MythTV cannot find any working channels in the range 2 to 69.

Please remember that I do not understand any of this, and I do not want to understand any of this. I just want to record some programs.
