Hi,

AFAIK sandybridge/libva is somewhat limited regarding deinterlacing
compared to nvidia/VDPAU.  I don't know if this is caused by hardware
or by lazy Intel coders.

The last comment on http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/8593 also
suggests that deinterlacing is not possible with MythTV and VA API
playback.  I saw no git commits that would change this.
