To the Ozzies on the list:


The Australian Advisory Council on Intellectual Property is calling for 
submissions regarding the review of the innovation patent system.

In particular the question of software patents is being discussed. The 
submission period ends October 14. To date there have been NO written 
submissions according to the article here:

Personally, I think software patents are absurd. The present storm of 
software patent litigation and the number of disallowances on 
re-examination by the USPTO underline the problems in the US.

Australia *may* join with Korea and Japan in excluding software patents.

Someone might wish to provide a nudge....
