[mythtv-users] vdpau and subtitles

Been looking around and not really find to much on this.  I have a frontend
that uses vdpau HD with advanced 2x and plays great, except for subtitles.
The subtitles mostly just flash or stutter and cannot be read.  If I change
to not use vdpau then the subtitles are fine, but there are other problems
due to the box not having enough processing power.  If I change advanced 2x
to none the subtitles flash and stutter less and stay on the screen more,
but not enough to be usable.

using a recent build of 0.25 on Gentoo.
2.6.35.8 #3 SMP PREEMPT Sat Sep 3 03:35:20 CDT 2011 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2
CPU 4300 @ 1.80GHz

video card - GeForce GT 240
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 0ca3 (rev a2)

Does anyone have any advice or can point me at which knobs to be trying to
improve this?
