That looks likely to me.  I've just tried running the same clip through mplayer, and get the same problem (and error message) that mythfrontend reports i.e.

[aac_latm @ 0xf13bc0]channel element 0.0 is not allocated

repeated over and over after the program transition.  ffmpeg can decode both types of audio - if you snip the posted clip down to the last 10MB it plays just fine.  It's not handling the transition between audio configurations though.

I'll open up a bug on the ffmpeg bug tracker.  Thanks everybody for pointing me in the right direction.
