Maybe it is possible to use the "switch on USB" mode which are present 
on some mainboard such as "Wake on LAN" an so on?
Like that you should be able to use any USB IR receiver to switch your 
PC on.
I was even able to use my Logitech diNovo Mini and it's bluetooth usb 
stick to switch the pc on.
