I am using lirc in F14 with this in /etc/rc.local ...

echo none +lirc > /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols
/sbin/depmod -a
/sbin/modprobe ir-kbd-i2c hauppauge=1
lircd -H devinput -d /dev/input/event9
