[mythtv-users] Need help - I can't start live TV or recordings

I'm using Mythbuntu, and have tried with MythTV 0.24 and 0.25 - My
recordings just show up as nonexistant and I cannot start live TV
(there is a black screen, then it exits without warning).
Here are the lines that look relevant from the backend log:
2011-05-05 19:29:46.348 TVRec(1): Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
2011-05-05 19:29:46.390 TVRec(1): HW Tuner: 1->1
2011-05-05 19:29:46.435 format_to_mode() does not recognize V4L1
2011-05-05 19:29:46.472 LoadFromScheduler(): Error, called from backend.
2011-05-05 19:29:46.475 AutoExpire: CalcParams(): Max required Free Space: 2.0 GB w/freq: 15 min
2011-05-05 19:29:46.538 TVRec(1): Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None
2011-05-05 19:29:49.129 FileRingBuf(/var/lib/mythtv/livetv/1050_20110505192940.nuv) Error: OpenFile(): File too small (0B).
2011-05-05 19:29:49.169 MainServer, Warning: Unknown socket closing MythSocket(0xffffffffa992ddf0)
2011-05-05 19:29:49.207 MythSocket(ffffffffa992ddf0:-1): writeStringList: Error, socket went unconnected.
We wrote 0 of 29 bytes with 1 errors
Judging from that, it looks like there's a V4L issue?
I rolled back to 0.23 temporarily, and while I was able to start
recordings and live TV, eventually the backend would stop responding
and I'd have to ssh in and restart it (I'm using a standalone backend
with my frontend attached via ethernet).
Can someone help me out with this, please?
Thanks,
Michael
