Myth used to have a "Set Manual Recording" option.

The user supplied a start time, finish time, channel number and a
title for the recorded programme.

I used it a couple of times when I tried to use Myth for making
recordings from my camcorder (it wasn't very good for that).

I don't know if that feature is still available in the current MythTV
version, but if it is, and if you can find a binding method for it
then it might do what you want.
