Please note that you are still misunderstanding what the methods others have 
explained to you are going to accomplish: you would be adding a recording 
*rule*, not starting a recording. Then afterwards the scheduler must be run 
against the database of available program information to find anything that 
matches your *rule*.

This may result in none, one or many matches! Following the scheduler run you 
(ie the user) then has to check that the program you wished to schedule was 
actually the one picked up, and that there is a suitable tuner available to 
record it from.

It very rarely is the case that one can just say "I want to record this only". 
Do you really want to have to search the schedules every day and pick up every 
program you might wish to record? There is a very good reason why mythtv has the 
program selection and scheduling mechanism it does, and I suggest you spend some 
time and become completely familiar with it before attempting to build something 
which only provides a limited subset of its facilities.
