As the setup of the cards will require you to run myth-setup, and that
stops the mythbackend, until you have it running there will be service
interruptions anyway - unless you have 2 backends.

Personally, if you have the slots, put all the cards in the system
then you can simply delete the cards from mythsetup.

If you dont have enough I'd leave as many of the current tuners in
place that you can, and add the new tuners and take the hit to get it
up and running.
