However, it really does have to be 3.5", I need the 2TB.

As far as the Green Drives with slower rotational speed, it not the 
constant motor speed thats the problem. It all the click and pop from 
head motion. I think the Hitachi 7K2000 I have may be a particularly 
noisy model.

Again, I some times record 4HD Mpeg streams, while watching a 5th, and 
possibly even a commflag at the same time. I really don't think dropping 
down in performance is an option.

I don't really see the need to drop down in rotational speed since that 
constant noise doesn't bother me. Are any of the 7200RPM 3.5" 2TB drives 
a lot quieter on head motion?
