Although more expensive I find the 2.5" drives MUCH quieter. I think
the largest you can get is around 1TB at present, but even 2x 2.5"
drives is smaller and I think quieter than 1x 3.5" drive?

Note I have spent many years building silent systems and they all really
seem to fail in various ways. Beware heat killing your drive with any of
these enclosures, however, without an enclosure the drive will nearly
always be too loud (if you are fussy)

Another option is a small silent boot drive and mount the main storage
somewhere you can't hear it over gigabit...

Good luck

P.S. The F3/F4 drives are pretty quiet for 3.5" drives. I have around
8x them in one of my machines
