Multi-channel AAC has been broken for a long time in ffmpeg until very recently.

You had to build ffmpeg (or mythtv) using libaac for it to work properly.

ffmpeg decided to stop using libaac and instead spent the proper
amount of time required for multi-channels AAC to be decoded properly.
