Thanks for the prompt reply.  I did peruse the tickets and the commits on
master/0.24-fixes, but since I didn't see a description that specifically
mentioned my situation, I wasn't completely sure if my problem had been
identified.  Even less sure about what got backported, but that's a smaller
pool to look through.

My alternative was to revert to the previous Handbrake and re-rip.  Not!  It
may be well past mattering, but when I do finally upgrade, I'll reply to
this and confirm my results.  Maybe sooner, or later...I'm contemplating a
HW upgrade of my master backend, and in parallel building a new system in
another disk partition (Gentoo, too long between emerge world) where I may
"experiment" with 0.24-fixes before switching over (love the database backup
scripts).  Can't decide if I want to do it on old hardware, or wait for
new.  But it's a minor but steady annoyance to the family, so it may be
sooner.
