[mythtv-users] "New Episodes Only" filtering for recording rules

Someone may come back with more info than I can help with and I will be
reading this thread with interest.

Duplicate detection works in a few different methods depending on the
information available to it. First if the programid hasn't been
seen/recorded before then the program is seen as a new program and gets
recorded... this is what seems to get me in the uk with a freeview and
freesat system using eit as the programme guide source. In order to limit
the duplicates recorded I restrict the channels that are recorded, so for
instance I know that doctor who premiers on bbc1hd so I just set a rule to
record all bbc1hd doctor who showings and then use the duplicate detection
as well - although I haven't had much luck with it.

I understand that the radiotimes info is better (xmltv rt grabber)

If the programme id is not present then myth uses subtitle/description as
determined by your recording rule.
