Andrew,

Everybody's different. Personally, I find the displays to be 
distracting. Might be useful when just playing music without the TV, 
like you said.

Otherwise, I'd pass on it, but even if it were useful without the TV, 
I'd have to be able to turn it off for TV viewing. 

I don't even like the stupid blue LED on the front of my Mythbox, nor 
the the LED on my TV.
