What version of myth are you using and when was it built?

recent 0.24 now sets more explicitly the iec mode, pro audio etc... so
you should never have to play with those.

Having said that, don't use pulse if you want proper digital audio
working... And select ALSA:spdif or ALSA:iec958 in the mythtv audio
settings.

If you're using my 0.24 with audio backports branch, there's an
advanced screen where you can check "SPDIF 48k rate override" which
was added for people like yourself..
