Hi all,
I currently run a split frontend/backend mythtv system using JYA's
repo on ubuntu lucid. I use a HD Homerun for tuners.
I have a second server running centos that is low powered and provides
asterisk and zoneminder functionality.
my mythtv backend is also my file server/backup server/squeezecenter
server, my firewall and and internet gateway and provides things like
web services (reverse proxy for myth, squeeze etc and pptp VPN access
in from the internet.
I am about to add more cameras to zoneminder and the centos server
won't cut it. I want to consolidate down to just one server in order
to uncomplicate things and reduce my energy consumption. asterisk and
zoneminder run so much better on centos than on ubuntu (installation
issues - IMHO). Looking at buying a new i5 2500 processor and
compatible mobo etc.
Question is, what is the best way of moving from one to the other?
Frontend will stay on ubuntu.
Am thinking build everything new from scratch on centos, then transfer
mysql database across and make sure all mount points are the same.
Any issues with centos be and ubuntu fe?
Cheers
Phil
